Heathrow supports recruitment of new Enterprise Co-ordinator

The Careers & Enterprise Company (CEC) and Thames Valley Berkshire LEP are partnering with Heathrow Airport to co-fund a Careers & Enterprise Co-ordinator.

The new appointment will enable secondary schools to be matched with an Enterprise Adviser - a senior business volunteer - who can provide strategic guidance and support in implementing a school career plan, as well as access to a network of businesses. This will also enable the expansion of the Enterprise Adviser Network in Thames Valley Berkshire through the recruitment of a further 20 Enterprise Advisers from across Heathrow Airport; its supply chain; and other businesses in the area. The Enterprise Advisers will be matched to schools identified as a priority by the government, and local to Heathrow.

Part-funding this support resource was a key recommendation made to the airport by an independent Heathrow Skills Taskforce last year. In their response to recommendations, Heathrow have agreed to provide a charitable donation for three years to unlock this support. The role of the Enterprise Co-ordinator is to lead on strengthening links between schools and colleges, employers, and careers and enterprise bodies – building on existing, successful local models and supported by LEPs.

Heathrow Head of Education & Skills Poorvi Patel said:

“We are delighted to support a brand new local Enterprise Co-ordinator role which will help build an aspirational and exciting careers strategy for local young people. Heathrow has a strong and enduring commitment to support the communities around the airport, and this new support resource will help to strengthen our partnership with local schools and colleges.”

Thames Valley Berkshire LEP is currently recruiting for the role. If you are interested in applying, please follow this link or contact Allison Giles on 07715 083082 for an informal discussion about the role.

About the Skills Taskforce

In 2016, Lord Blunkett was invited to establish and lead the Heathrow Skills Taskforce to advice Heathrow on the choices needed to make the most of the skills and employment benefits of expansion.
