Further Education Executive appointed to Thames Valley Berkshire LEP Board

Paul Newman, Executive Director at Activate Learning, has been appointed to Thames Valley Berkshire LEP’s Board and member of the LEP’s Skills Advisory Panel.

Paul joins the board as the LEP’s Skills, Education and Employment lead. His experience in senior Further Education roles includes working in strategic planning, key stakeholder relationships, student experience and the overall effective operations. Paul also lead the merger of Activate Learning with Bracknell and Wokingham College in 2019. 

Paul said of his appointment, “I have lived and worked in Berkshire all my life and have worked in Further Education for 23 years, starting as an apprentice at Reading college before returning to teach and ultimately lead. I am passionate about and living proof that further education creates opportunities, sustained employment and enables social mobility. I am thrilled to be joining the LEP Executive Board, and additional the Skills Advisory Panel, and hope to use my experience to build on the success that the LEP has already achieved.”

Peter Read, Chair of Thames Valley Berkshire LEP said, “Paul’s industry experience will be invaluable in helping us deliver the Berkshire Local Industrial Recovery Plan and continue to leads in the LEP’s expertise in the educational sector that is critical to the future development of the area. I would like to thank Kate Webb for the expertise and passion she has brought to the board and sheer dedication.”
